Environments Shape Our Biology

MOR Studio is a Scottsdale-based architecture and interior design firm creating neuroscience-informed environments for community, faith-based, non-profit, corporate, and educational clients. We believe spaces are not neutral—they shape how people feel, behave, and connect.

Many organizations operate in environments that weren’t designed for human biology or lived experience. These spaces can feel confusing, overstimulating, or disconnected from nature, making it harder for people to focus, productive, feel welcome, or engage. When environments work against the nervous system, organizations must work harder to deliver on their mission.

We design with the understanding that light, sound, materials, layout, and movement directly influence stress, safety, belonging, learning, and participation. Our work is guided by our CDMR™ framework—Connection, Discovery, Movement, and Rest—ensuring spaces support both human experience and long-term resilience.

By integrating neuroscience, story, and placemaking, we create environments that help people connect, recover, and thrive.

  • “Michelle Rutkowski at MOR Studio provides exceptional service and design. She goes above and beyond to make sure all of our programmatic needs are met.  For example, she collaboratively worked with our stakeholders and furniture vendor on a challenging remodel of a call center and delivered a solution that exceeds our expectations.”

  • “Just wanted to give you and your team kudos for the plan set.  I’ve been through it at a high level thus far and am starting to get down into the details and must say it is a complete and well put together set of drawings.  The effort really shows.  It’s been quite a while since I’ve gotten to work with this level of drawings and makes me even more excited to get out build it!”
